Descrição da vaga

Role overview

An established organisation is hiring an experienced Environment Manager for a major enterprise technology programme. This is a 6-month daily-rate contract with a hybrid working arrangement. The role focuses on managing technical environments from end to end so they remain stable, well-governed, and aligned to delivery needs across several teams.

The position suits someone who can shape a scalable approach to environment management while helping a complex programme move forward smoothly.

What you will do

  • Own the environment management capability across multiple technical workstreams.
  • Create, roll out, and refine standards, governance controls, and operating procedures for environment management.
  • Plan and schedule environment access and usage to align with project timelines.
  • Spot, track, and close environment-related issues, risks, and dependencies before they disrupt delivery.
  • Work closely with project managers, technical specialists, QA, infrastructure teams, and external vendors to keep environments available and suitable for use.
  • Review environment usage and suggest changes that improve efficiency and lower operational risk.
  • Set up reporting and governance routines, and provide regular progress updates to programme stakeholders.
  • Lead improvement initiatives that support a scalable, resilient environment management model.

Experience and technical background

  • At least 5 years of experience in Environment Management, Technical Project Management, Release Management, QA Leadership, or a similar technical delivery role.
  • Hands-on exposure to complex technical environments in large enterprise programmes.
  • Solid knowledge of software delivery lifecycles and environment governance.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders across technology, infrastructure, and business functions.
  • Comfort managing competing priorities in fast-moving programme settings.
  • Strong communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience resolving technical environment issues early, before they affect delivery.
  • Ability to build and improve operating processes and governance structures.

Desirable experience

  • Background supporting large digital transformation or enterprise technology initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Release Management and Change Management processes.
  • Experience working in Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Exposure to environment automation and infrastructure management tools.
  • Experience with cloud platforms and enterprise infrastructure environments.
  • ITIL certification or knowledge of IT service management best practices.

Education and certification

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent third-level qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related subject is preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as ITIL, PRINCE2, PMP, or Scrum Master are considered an advantage.
