Role summary
The EHS Officer will be responsible for supporting site-wide environmental, health, and safety compliance on a construction project in Riyadh. The role covers documentation, inspections, training, audits, incident response, and coordination with clients, contractors, and internal teams to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain EHS documentation, including the EHS plan, emergency response plan, risk assessments, and related records.
- Participate in EHS meetings with the client and project team.
- Escalate EHS concerns and issues to head office.
- Deliver EHS induction sessions for newly joined workers.
- Carry out daily safety inspections within the assigned work zone.
- Verify that engineers and supervisors obtain the necessary safe work permits from clients or main contractors.
- Perform site-wide risk assessments and highlight high-risk areas to site engineers and/or clients/main contractors.
- Ensure weekly toolbox talks are conducted properly by engineers to build safety awareness among workers.
- Check that all personnel wear required PPE, including helmet, safety shoes, and coveralls.
- Inspect ladders and scaffolding to confirm they are fit for use before work begins.
- Monitor worker welfare, including access to drinking water, rest areas, lighting, and ventilation.
- Promote good housekeeping across the project site to reduce the chance of incidents and accidents.
- Conduct Job EHS Analysis for high-risk tasks to reduce hazardous conditions.
- Motivate workers and engineers to follow and promote EHS practices.
- Support incident and accident investigations with engineers for both minor and major cases.
- Share investigation findings with workers and engineers so preventive actions can be taken.
- Provide first aid and/or arrange medical support when workers are injured.
- Keep all EHS-related documentation updated and organized.
- Build, monitor, assess, and coordinate the upgraded integrated health, safety, and environment management system in line with ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 9001 requirements.
- Improve procedures and support internal audits based on the applicable standards.
- Deliver training sessions on EHS topics for engineers and workers at site, as well as for HR-organized EHS programs.
- Identify hazards and assess risks for critical activities, ensuring method statements reflect the findings.
- Prepare the EHS Plan and Environment Management Plan.
- Coordinate external EHS audits and third-party equipment inspections.
- Prepare emergency preparedness plans and conduct emergency drills.
- Support the implementation of the work permit system.
- Coordinate occupational health and welfare measures.
- Prepare EHS contract conditions for subcontractors.
- Stop unsafe work when unsafe practices are observed and reinforce a proactive safety culture.
- Perform monthly project risk management audits and quarterly system audits.
- Submit EHS reports to the project head and IC head on the current status of EHS performance.
Additional information
This is a full-time onsite position based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role requires active involvement in construction-site safety management, regulatory compliance, training, inspection, and incident prevention.

The position includes responsibility for maintaining alignment with integrated management systems and relevant standards, specifically ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 9001.
