Role overview
AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for designing, planning, delivering, and operating the global infrastructure that powers AWS. This includes the data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems that keep cloud services available for customers. The team works on complex, high-impact challenges across a massive supply chain and values people who can help improve how these systems are built and run.
In this role, you will join a broad, cross-functional group of software, hardware, network, supply chain, security, and operations professionals. What the role involves
The Data Center Construction Manager is accountable for driving technical, cost-effective, and fast-moving construction schedules for data center projects. The role focuses on improving delivery speed, quality, and efficiency while supporting the buildout of highly sophisticated facilities.
You will help manage construction activity for new builds and capital projects in the Hyderabad area, working under senior guidance. The position also involves supporting design reviews, commissioning, integrated testing, project controls, and construction administration across multiple concurrent projects.
Key responsibilities
- Support project management and day-to-day oversight of construction work for new data center builds and capital projects in the Hyderabad region.
- Help reduce cost and delivery timelines while protecting quality standards.
- Contribute to construction management initiatives that improve data center resilience.
- Review the buildability of electrical, mechanical, and building designs for new or existing data center projects.
- Assist in defining project scope, equipment needs, request-for-proposal documents, and capital requests.
- Support commissioning, integrated system testing, and overall project execution to ensure quality outcomes.
- Track and coordinate the Request for Information process during construction and work with engineers on construction administration.
- Capture, report, and communicate key project metrics to team members and leadership.
- Develop the ability to manage several projects at once, including new construction and existing-facility improvement work.
- Provide operational support for installed facilities, including reviews of procedures, best practices, and maintenance initiatives.
- Build leadership capability within the team and across internal and external stakeholders.
- Travel to data center sites for electrical and mechanical audits, constructability reviews, startup checks, and full commissioning activities when needed, under supervision.
Work environment and scope
Daily work may span the full lifecycle of a data center project, starting with site feasibility and continuing through design-team procurement, design review, construction oversight, and final commissioning. The role is suited to someone who is highly analytical, motivated, and comfortable working on mission-critical facilities.

Basic qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field is required.
- Prior experience handling vendors is needed.
- Experience working in a data center or another critical environment is required.
Preferred qualifications
- At least 3 years of construction or project management experience is preferred.
- Previous exposure to construction or project management is advantageous.
- Familiarity with critical data center equipment is preferred.
