Role Overview
This full-time cook role is based at the Marine Security Guard Residence (MSGR) at the U.S. Consulate General in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The position follows a Sunday-to-Thursday schedule with 8 working hours per day.
Working Hours and Meal Service Window
Meal service is expected during the following times:
- Breakfast: 7:00 AM to 9:30 AM
- Lunch: 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM
- Dinner: 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM
Key Duties
- Cook and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day for about eight U.S. Marine Security Guards.
- Coordinate with the Marine Detachment Mess Non-Commissioned Officer to build weekly and monthly meal schedules.
- Support grocery forecasting, food storage, and stock tracking.
- Create varied, nutritious menus with several meal choices across the week.
- Prepare meals to a consistently high standard, with careful attention to presentation and portion control.
- Keep the kitchen, dining area, utensils, cookware, and appliances clean and sanitary after each meal.
- Track food stock levels and inform the Government when replenishment is needed.
- Comply with food hygiene, safety, and sanitation requirements during preparation and storage.
- Take proper care of Government-provided kitchen equipment and report any repair or maintenance needs.
- Maintain a professional image and adhere to all U.S. Consulate security rules and workplace expectations.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience overseeing food service in a restaurant, hotel, military mess, institutional kitchen, or comparable setting.
- Proven ability to prepare top-quality meals and deliver food service at a professional level.
- Solid knowledge of menu design, cooking methods, food storage, inventory control, and kitchen cleanliness.
- Understanding of food safety rules and proper food-handling practices.
- Must be physically fit for duty and medically cleared as free from communicable diseases.
- Should be able to communicate clearly in English.
- Must be able to pass the required background check and security screening for access to the U.S. Consulate.
- Expected to work independently while keeping strong standards for cleanliness, organization, and customer service.
