Loading Bay Manager

About the Role

Kepak Group is seeking a dedicated Loading Bay Manager to join our team based in Athleague, County Roscommon. You will report directly to the Site Manager and play a crucial role in supervising daily activities in the Beef Loading Bay. Ensuring that beef carcasses and related products are loaded safely, efficiently, and on schedule is at the heart of this position.

Core Responsibilities

• Coordinate closely with Planning, Production, and Transport departments to fulfill the daily loading schedules safely and efficiently.
• Oversee the handling and loading of beef carcasses, guaranteeing that the correct products are sent out according to customer specifications.
• Maintain standards for product quality, accurate identification, traceability, and proper handling throughout the loading process.
• Track stock movements and investigate discrepancies in collaboration with relevant departments.
• Ensure that the loading areas and equipment comply with Health & Safety, hygiene, 5S, and housekeeping standards.
• Manage training, re-training, health & safety standards, holiday cover, and the employee time & attendance system (Perfast T&A).
• Apply and enforce Kepak Group’s policies on Health & Safety, Human Resources, Food Safety, and Quality.
• Work alongside the Technical Manager to promptly address quality or product issues.
• Engage with Site Department Heads to uphold operational excellence and support customer audit processes.
• Actively participate in site procedures and meetings, including daily operational reviews and planning sessions.

Stock and Dispatch Management

• Oversee receipt, storage, movement, and dispatch operations of beef carcasses and derived products.
• Maintain accurate stock records and ensure full traceability of carcass movements.
• Ensure carcasses are handled and loaded to prevent damage and meet customer requirements.
• Manage movement of stock held off-site for maturation purposes, where required.
• Confirm that daily loading targets and deadlines are met aligned with customer and transport needs.

Team Leadership and People Management

• Lead and encourage the Loading Bay team to optimize operational efficiency and achieve daily goals.
• Ensure all team members are competent and well-trained in carcass handling, loading procedures, food safety, and health & safety practices.
• Oversee attendance management, performance reviews, and holiday cover within the team.
• Foster a workplace culture focused on safety, quality, productivity, and collaboration.

Requirements

• Previous experience within a beef or meat processing environment is essential.
• Background in butchery, carcass handling, slaughtering, boning, or meat product manufacturing is highly desirable.
• Practical knowledge of beef carcass characteristics, product specifications, and handling protocols.
• Demonstrated people management or supervisory experience.
• Solid understanding of health & safety, food safety standards, hygiene, and traceability requirements.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities, paired with effective communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and leadership abilities.
• Capability to work productively in a fast-paced production setting.
