Site Engineer

Role Overview

This position is for a site engineer responsible for overseeing electrical execution at a solar power project in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The role focuses on site supervision, electrical installation, testing, coordination with multiple teams, quality control, safety compliance, reporting, and support during commissioning.

Site Execution and Supervision

• Oversee and carry out electrical site work such as DC stringing, inverter setup, ACDB/DCDB erection, cable laying, cable termination, and earthing.
• Make sure all electrical work follows approved drawings, single line diagrams, technical specifications, and instructions issued at site.
• Track day-to-day work progress and ensure manpower and tools are deployed appropriately.

Electrical Installation and Testing

• Supervise both DC and AC electrical installation activities for solar power plants.
• Perform and document electrical tests including insulation resistance, continuity, polarity, and earth resistance checks.
• Assist senior engineers during pre-commissioning and commissioning tasks.

Coordination and Interface

• Work closely with civil, QA/QC, and EHS teams to ensure smooth execution of site activities.
• Coordinate with contractors and technicians to close site-level execution issues.
• Support coordination with inverter OEM teams during installation and testing.

Quality Control and Safety

• Maintain the required quality standards for electrical work in line with project specifications.
• Enforce electrical safety procedures, PPE usage, and general site safety rules.
• Escalate unsafe conditions and quality non-conformances to senior engineers.

Progress Monitoring and Reporting

• Monitor work progress at site and prepare daily progress reports.
• Keep senior engineers updated on status of work, material needs, and site-related constraints.

Material and Documentation

• Help track the receipt, storage, and consumption of electrical materials at site.
• Assist in preparing as-built drawings and handover documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

The role requires a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, along with 2 to 4 years of experience in site electrical work. Preference is given to candidates with exposure to solar power or EPC projects.

Key Skills

Strong understanding of AC and DC electrical systems used in solar plants, ability to interpret single line diagrams, general arrangement drawings, and wiring diagrams, along with good coordination and communication skills, are essential for this role.
