Role Overview

The business is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Goldsmith to join its workshop in Dublin. This role focuses on creating, repairing, and finishing high-end jewellery pieces while upholding the standards associated with the Weir & Sons name.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, assemble, and finish jewellery items made from gold and other precious metals.
• Carry out detailed repairs, modifications, and ring or jewellery resizing without compromising quality.
• Work alongside designers and gemmologists to produce bespoke pieces that match client briefs and expectations.
• Use both traditional and contemporary goldsmithing methods, including soldering, forging, engraving, and casting.
• Handle gemstones carefully during setting and final finishing work.
• Inspect completed pieces carefully to ensure they meet strict craftsmanship and quality standards.
• Suggest refinements where needed to improve the final result and support customer satisfaction.
• Look after workshop tools, equipment, and the working area so they remain safe, efficient, and well maintained.
• Follow health and safety procedures and help keep the workshop clean and orderly.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience working as a Goldsmith in fine or luxury jewellery.
• Strong practical knowledge of advanced metalworking methods such as soldering, engraving, and hand fabrication.
• Experience with stone setting and the careful handling of precious materials.
• Comfort working to extremely high standards of detail, finish, and accuracy.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with designers, gemmologists, and sales teams.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Formal training or certification in goldsmithing or jewellery making is preferred.
• Exposure to CAD tools and 3D printing would be beneficial, though it is not mandatory.
