Role overview

We are hiring a driven Data Analyst to join a finance function that is expanding quickly. In this position, you will convert business data into practical insights that help shape commercial and strategic choices. The role involves close partnership with the Finance and Ecommerce teams, ensuring they receive timely, reliable, and useful information.

This is a practical, hands-on analytics role suited to someone who enjoys working with figures, identifying patterns, and helping a finance team interpret complex ecommerce and stock information. You will gain exposure to a broad mix of business areas, including transactions, cash flow movements, inventory control, and commercial performance, while playing an important part in decision-making across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide the finance team with accurate, timely, and decision-ready data analysis.
• Work with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to understand reporting needs and turn them into workable solutions.
• Review finance and operational measures such as cancellations, refunds, and stock variances, then highlight trends, exceptions, and irregularities.
• Examine inventory movement across ecommerce, physical retail, and warehouse channels to generate useful stock insights.
• Create clear and dependable stock reports that help senior leaders make informed calls on inventory allocation and investment.
• Partner with Finance Managers and the Head of Finance to supply data for strategic planning and business decisions.
• Assist with ad hoc reporting and commercial analysis so the business can respond quickly to opportunities and issues.
• Maintain clean, accurate, and well-organised financial data to support reporting and analysis.
• Collaborate with data and finance colleagues on automation and dashboard improvements.
• Refine reporting workflows to improve consistency, speed, and efficiency in data handling.
• Take ownership of weekly trade data.
• Support the move away from repetitive manual work and help embed AI into day-to-day working practices.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate will bring a strong analytical approach, excellent attention to detail, and confidence working with large datasets and ecommerce transaction data. You should be comfortable using Excel, and experience with data tools or ERP platforms would be an advantage.

You will need to be proactive, able to turn raw numbers into meaningful insight, and organised enough to manage priorities in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Experience in ecommerce and beauty is preferred.

Location and employment

This is a full-time, permanent, in-house position based in Stockport. No remote working is available.

Compensation

Salary range: £32,000 to £42,000 per year.
