Store Driver

Role overview

This position is for a store driver who supports customer deliveries, store operations, and in-store sales assistance. The role involves handling parts deliveries to professional customers, collecting returns and cores, helping promote sales activity, and contributing to a clean, organized, and efficient store environment.

Key duties

• Collect, prepare, and safely deliver parts to professional customers.
• Pick up returned items and cores.
• Distribute weekly and monthly sales flyers while supporting current promotions and loyalty initiatives.
• Handle daily collection activity for credit accounts.
• Develop and maintain relationships with MainStreet and National Pro customers, and share delivery-based insights with the CPP.
• Support upselling and cross-selling efforts to help grow average transaction value.
• Keep the store clean and presentable, including floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, and the parking lot.
• Assist with stocking tasks such as truck unloading, back stock management, and cycle counts.
• Stay current on product inventory and new arrivals to support sales efforts.
• Welcome walk-in customers, understand what they need, and recommend suitable parts or services.
• Complete other assigned tasks as needed.

Skills and work expectations

The role calls for effective English communication, both spoken and written; Spanish is considered an advantage. The driver should be able to read safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance guides, parts catalogs, and procedure documents. Basic math skills are required for accurate work with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. The schedule may include days, evenings, and weekends. A confident approach to customer engagement, product promotion, and learning new products and sales methods is important.

Experience and education

Experience with automotive parts is preferred. A high school diploma or an equivalent credential is required. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and a clean, acceptable driving record.

Physical requirements

This job is physically active and mainly involves walking or standing. The role requires the ability to speak and hear, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, climb or balance, and bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequent lifting and moving of up to 50 pounds is expected, with occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds with assistance. Vision demands include close, distance, color, and depth perception, along with the ability to adjust focus.

Work environment

The position is usually performed indoors, but some tasks may take place outside in varying weather conditions, such as battery or wiper blade installation. The work may occasionally involve exposure to moving machinery, elevated areas, hazardous chemicals, electrical shock risk, explosives, and vibration. The noise level is generally moderate.

Compensation and benefits

The expected pay range for a new team member is CAD 17.60 to CAD 18.85 per hour. The final rate depends on factors such as location, retail experience, automotive knowledge, education, leadership background, relevant skills, and any shift differential that may apply.
