Software Engineer II

About the Role

Flipkart is hiring Software Development Engineer II (SDE-2) professionals who can build product features from business requirements. In this role, you will work across several technical components within your area of ownership, applying solid engineering principles to keep the codebase easy to maintain, extend, and evolve.

The position calls for a strong grasp of non-functional expectations such as reliability, availability, and scalability, including horizontal scaling. Over time, you are expected to make informed technology choices with those system qualities in mind. Key Responsibilities

• Translate product needs into technical designs, break work into actionable tasks, and provide dependable effort estimates.
• Independently evaluate solution options and create low-level designs that are extensible and easy to evolve.
• Write code that is modular, readable, efficient, and built with long-term maintainability in mind.
• Select appropriate data structures, tools, and technology stacks, and support high-level design decisions with guidance where needed.
• Build and improve systems while also mentoring and supporting junior engineers.
• Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders and contribute to a shared product and engineering vision.

Requirements

• B.Tech, M.Tech, or an equivalent degree.
• At least 3 years of professional experience.
• Strong programming background in at least one language such as Java, Ruby, Clojure, Scala, C, C++, or SQL.
• Good command of object-oriented programming concepts.
• Hands-on experience with multithreading and concurrent programming.
• Ability to handle complex business workflows and large-scale data.
• Prior exposure to agile delivery practices or CI/CD environments.
• Experience building reliable, scalable web applications is an advantage.
