Quantity Surveyor

About the role

Arup is looking to add a Quantity Surveyor to its Project & Commercial Management team, with opportunities based in Cork or Dublin. This position offers the chance to contribute to infrastructure and building work that places strong emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and value throughout the project lifecycle.

You will support the delivery of commercial and cost management services on predominantly civil infrastructure and building projects, working within a multidisciplinary environment where collaboration, strategic thinking, and attention to detail are highly valued. The role also offers scope to help shape the continued growth of Arup’s commercial capability in Ireland.

What you will do

• Assist with the preparation of cost estimates, cost plans, and tender documents to support informed budgeting and procurement decisions.
• Help manage procurement and contract administration tasks, including tender packaging, review of contractor submissions, measurement of work, and valuation checks.
• Contribute to cost control and commercial reporting by producing cost updates, forecasts, and financial summaries.
• Work alongside multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders across project stages, including meetings, site visits, and workshops.
• Use and expand knowledge of construction contracts such as NEC, Irish Public Works Contracts, and FIDIC while maintaining accurate records and delivering quality commercial outputs.
• Support junior colleagues and contribute to improvements in procurement strategy, whole-life value, and day-to-day commercial best practice.

What we are looking for

• A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a closely related subject.
• Prior experience in civil infrastructure quantity surveying; experience in buildings and MEP work is an advantage.
• Working knowledge of cost management, procurement, and contract administration through project delivery.
• Strong numerical ability, analytical thinking, organisational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Good commercial judgement and the ability to apply technical knowledge effectively.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work well with multidisciplinary teams.
• Confidence using MS Office and estimating tools such as CostX or CostOS.
