QA / QC Engineer

Role overview

This is a senior quality assurance and quality control position focused on ensuring contract adherence, carrying out audits and inspections, and confirming compliance with international standards across complex engineering projects. The position calls for advanced technical knowledge, leadership in quality systems, and the confidence to operate independently while coordinating closely with contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Apply a solid understanding of RFP and IFB contract fundamentals, along with established quality assurance principles, methods, standards, and procedures.
• Prepare clear written and verbal communication, including reports, correspondence, technical write-ups, and audit-related documentation.
• Track quality assurance performance across design, manufacturing, and installation work.
• Assess contractor and supplier compliance with contractual and specification requirements on assigned projects.
• Review the effectiveness of contractor quality assurance plans and suggest practical improvements.
• Evaluate submitted materials and equipment and recommend whether they should be accepted.
• Interpret drawings, plans, specifications, standards, and procedural documents accurately.
• Check project documentation to confirm contract compliance, appropriate methods, and compatibility with other systems.
• Carry out and document inspections such as RFS, IV, FAI, and FACI activities.
• Take part in project meetings and stay updated on quality requirements, open issues, and schedule impacts.
• Lead and record audits and surveys of contractor or supplier quality systems, and confirm that corrective action plans are implemented effectively.
• Work independently when supervision is unavailable and produce properly structured business documents with correct grammar, punctuation, and sentence construction.
• Follow both spoken and written instructions accurately.
• Support the development of specialized quality assurance training materials when needed.
• Observe safe work practices and procedures at all times.
• Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
• Use standard office equipment and common word processing and spreadsheet tools efficiently.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

• Support the implementation and upkeep of quality assurance plans and programs.
• Help establish performance standards, inspection systems, and quality testing models for raw materials, work-in-progress items, and finished output.
• Conduct quality system audits and follow through on corrective measures to reduce deficiencies.
• Produce quality reports, confirm work completion and quality, maintain logs, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Promote quality awareness by educating internal customers on methods for identifying and improving quality.
• Use computer applications confidently in day-to-day work.
• Bring strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Adapt quickly to changing priorities and demands.
• Demonstrate forward-thinking and proactive judgment.

Experience and education

The role requires 12 to 15 years of advanced-quality-assurance experience, including exposure to Total Quality Management implementation, Design of Experiments, and automated quality control through Statistical Process Control. Background in Automatic Train Control, Transit Communications, Transit Vehicle Systems, Elevators and Escalators, Fare Collection, and/or Bus Maintenance contract management is preferred. A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is required. In addition, 3 years of verifiable full-time equivalent experience in Quality Engineering is expected, with rail transit system or subsystem equipment experience preferred.
