Role overview

This position is responsible for ensuring the overall reliability and integrity of plant mechanical equipment. The role leads predictive and preventive mechanical maintenance work so that equipment remains available, while operating within company policies, safety standards, and approved budgets.

Key responsibilities

  • Run day-to-day mechanical maintenance work in line with applicable policies, procedures, SOPs, and instructions to keep execution controlled and consistent.
  • Stay updated on current mechanical maintenance practices and identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and methods.
  • Adopt and roll out proven practices, group guidelines, and lessons learned to strengthen reliability of plant mechanical assets.
  • Prepare mechanical maintenance budgets and cost plans, then monitor adherence to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Build preventive and predictive maintenance plans at daily, weekly, and monthly levels in coordination with planning, production, technology, and CES teams.
  • Develop manpower and resource plans aligned to the maintenance schedule for routine jobs and shutdown work.
  • Track performance on a regular basis and ensure mechanical maintenance KPIs are achieved each week.
  • Monitor mechanical spare inventory against defined targets and obtain approvals as needed to maintain control.
  • Coordinate timely identification and procurement of spares with vendors, purchasing, and stores teams.
  • Supervise mechanical work with attention to safety and quality, and ensure tasks are completed on time and to standard.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis with CES support whenever technical support is needed.
  • Carry out obsolescence studies for plant mechanical equipment to improve availability and reliability.
  • Release material and service purchase requests for mechanical equipment in a timely manner.
  • Oversee CAPEX work, repair activities, and refurbishment work to protect asset performance and functionality.
  • Manage turnaround and shutdown activities to ensure work is completed as per schedule.
  • Review mechanical MOCs from a maintenance perspective.
  • Take part in reliability and integrity studies for mechanical systems and components to support safe operation.
  • Perform regular look, listen, and feel inspections in the plant to spot likely failures and recommend corrective action.
  • Work with Production, Quality, CES, EHS, and Technology teams to identify issues and implement measures that improve plant health.
  • Support minor project execution as required and coordinate with external agencies for completion of work.
  • Liaise with customs and excise teams to speed up dispatch of urgent outgoing mechanical materials, and with IMMS to fast-track codification of critical items.
  • Validate SAP records to ensure maintenance data is accurate and complete.
  • Review and approve mechanical maintenance history and plant records.
  • Maintain IMS documentation for mechanical maintenance so records remain ready for audit and review.
  • Follow all safety, fire, and environmental requirements connected to maintenance work to support a safe workplace.
  • Inspect machinery for safety, fire, and environmental risks, identify root causes, and take corrective steps.
  • Participate in incident investigations with safety teams and help prepare and implement action plans to prevent repeat events.
  • Support emergency response activities during safety or fire incidents.
  • Identify and implement energy-saving initiatives that align with sustainability goals.
  • Review audit-related reports and documents, participate in audits and plant review meetings, and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Ensure HSEF compliance, including mandatory trainings such as RESOP, MIQA, CFA, and DOSHE, and support related action plans.
  • Manage mechanical contracts and supervise contractor activities to ensure adherence to company procedures and standards.
  • Make sure all mandatory trainings are completed on time.
  • Carry out any other work assigned by senior authorities from time to time.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a diploma in Mechanical or Production is required.

Experience

The role calls for 3 to 7 years of plant maintenance experience. Diploma candidates are expected to have more relevant experience.
