Role overview
This full-time, on-site HR Assistant opportunity is based in Athenry, Galway, and supports the wider Human Resources team with day-to-day administrative work. The position is focused on keeping HR operations running smoothly across the employee journey, with responsibilities spanning recruitment support, onboarding, records management, training administration, and general HR coordination.
The successful candidate will need to work carefully, professionally, and discreetly while handling sensitive employee information. A strong sense of organisation, accuracy, and responsiveness is important for success in this role.
Key duties
- Keep employee files and personnel records complete, current, and accurate.
- Enter and update employee details in HR systems and databases.
- Draft HR documents such as contracts, letters, and standard forms.
- Support filing processes, document control, and records retention.
- Help with recruitment activities by posting vacancies on hiring platforms.
- Coordinate with recruitment agencies and external hiring partners.
- Arrange interviews and manage communication with candidates.
- Prepare paperwork and materials needed for new starter onboarding.
- Assist with induction activities for new employees.
- Direct staff to the right HR contacts and resources when required.
- Support employee engagement activities, initiatives, and events.
- Compile and send employee information for payroll processing.
- Help administer employee benefits and enrolment processes.
- Maintain accurate records for absences and leave.
- Ensure employee data is processed in line with GDPR requirements.
- Assist with HR audits and other compliance-related tasks.
- Keep HRIS platforms and related systems updated on an ongoing basis.
- Protect the confidentiality of employee and company information at all times.
- Answer routine employee queries in a timely and helpful manner.
Requirements
- A qualification in Human Resources is required.
- At least 2 years of experience in Human Resources.
- Excellent precision and a strong eye for detail.
- Prior exposure to HR software or HRIS platforms.
- Background in HR support or general office administration.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Well-developed organisational and communication abilities.
