About the Role

Jetbro is hiring a Backend Engineer to work on a high-traffic consumer technology platform. In this position, you will develop and support APIs, services, and data pipelines that enable real-time user experiences at scale.

This is a polyglot backend role. The stack includes Node.js with Express and Python with FastAPI and Django, along with MySQL and PostgreSQL. You should be comfortable moving between languages and frameworks based on the problem at hand rather than staying tied to one toolset.

AI coding assistants are part of the everyday workflow here. Familiarity is not enough; you should know how to use tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot effectively, including prompting them well, reviewing their output carefully, and using them to move faster without lowering quality.

What You Will Do

• Develop maintainable backend code in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python using Express, FastAPI, and Django.
• Create and improve database designs, then tune queries for better performance.
• Build APIs that support actual production traffic at scale.
• Use AI coding tools to speed up development while keeping standards high.
• Work closely with frontend developers, DevOps team members, and project leads.
• Contribute to code reviews, engineering discussions, and architecture decisions.
• Take features from requirement gathering through deployment and ongoing monitoring.

Work Areas

• REST APIs for consumer-facing applications with heavy traffic.
• Event pipelines, click tracking, and analytics systems.
• Database schema design, migrations, and query optimization across MySQL and PostgreSQL.
• Third-party integrations and internal microservices.
• Background processing, scheduling, and asynchronous workflows.
• Production troubleshooting, observability, and performance optimization.

Requirements

• 0 to 4 years of backend engineering experience.
• Comfort working across more than one programming language and framework.
• Regular use of AI-assisted coding tools, with an understanding of both their strengths and limitations.
• Strong focus on writing code that is readable and easy for others to maintain.
• Interest in building systems used by real customers at meaningful scale.
• Ability to learn quickly and operate with minimal repetition or hand-holding.

Tech Stack

• Languages: TypeScript, JavaScript, Python.
• Frameworks: Express.js, FastAPI, Django.

• Infrastructure: Docker, CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployments on GCP and AWS.

• Side projects, experiments, GitHub repositories, and even well-documented failures are welcomed.

Nice to Have

• Experience with high-traffic platforms or event-driven systems.
• Exposure to click tracking, analytics pipelines, or real-time data processing.
• Understanding of core system design principles.
• Familiarity with containerization and deployment workflows.
