About the Opportunity
A reputable civil construction contractor is hiring a Site Engineer / Project Engineer to support the delivery of major infrastructure works across New Zealand. This role offers the chance to contribute to technically demanding projects and gain exposure to a broad mix of civil works in a collaborative project environment.
Project Exposure
The position covers a varied portfolio that may include water infrastructure, three waters, marine works, structural projects, treatment facilities, reservoirs, and wider civil construction assignments.
Key Duties
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of civil infrastructure projects from start to finish.
- Track site activities to confirm they align with specifications, safety expectations, and quality standards.
- Liaise with project managers, site personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to keep work moving toward project goals.
- Maintain accurate project files, documentation, progress reports, and construction records.
- Help manage schedules, labour, materials, and budgets to contribute to successful delivery.
- Spot technical or construction-related issues and work quickly to resolve them.
- Ensure QA procedures and project controls are applied consistently.
- Promote clear communication and teamwork across internal teams and client contacts.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of post-graduate experience in civil infrastructure.
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Previous experience working as a Site Engineer or Project Engineer in civil, construction, mechanical, or infrastructure projects.
- Prior exposure to water, three waters, treatment plants, reservoirs, marine works, structures, or general civil construction will be an advantage.
- Solid knowledge of construction methods, engineering fundamentals, and project delivery processes.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
- Comfort working within multidisciplinary project teams.
Compensation and Growth
The role offers a base salary in the range of $80,000 to $120,000, depending on experience. It also provides the opportunity to join a well-established contractor with a strong project pipeline and long-term career progression prospects.
