Role overview
Dr. W. J. Creel Elementary School is hiring a Custodian to help keep the campus clean, safe, and welcoming. This role is based at 2000 Glenwood Drive, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and is part of the Classified staff pay structure at Grade 15. The starting rate is $15.85 per hour.
Primary purpose
The main objective of this position is to maintain a positive school environment by supporting cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep across buildings, grounds, and equipment.
Key duties
This is physically demanding work that includes routine housekeeping, domestic tasks, gardening, and grounds care around school facilities and related buildings. Work is generally carried out under close supervision, with instructions that are detailed and specific. Tasks are reviewed during performance and after completion. When direct supervision is limited, the work follows an established routine.
Knowledge and abilities
The role calls for practical familiarity with maintenance equipment used on the job, along with an understanding of cleaning chemicals and their proper use. The position requires someone who can carry out heavy manual work and manage a full workday at a demanding pace.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a valid Florida Driver License and demonstrate general knowledge of the maintenance equipment used in this type of work.
