Role overview
This role sits within the Public Protection Casework Section (PPCS) of HMPPS and is centered on managing parole and recall casework. The successful candidate will prepare and oversee parole-eligible cases for consideration by the Parole Board, make decisions, issue the documents needed for recall requests, and manage the continued detention reviews of recalled offenders before referring cases onward in line with statutory duties.
The position is based at 1 Ruskin Square, Croydon, CR0 2WF, and the office is the required workplace. Candidates must work to deadlines set by demand and legislation, including staying on duty until 5pm and taking part in a fortnightly late rota that runs to around 7pm.
New joiners will need to work from the Croydon office full time for the first 3 weeks to complete training. Interviews will be held in person at the Croydon office.
Responsibilities
In this post, you will be responsible for handling complex casework linked to public protection and offender management.
- Prepare and manage parole cases that are referred to the Parole Board.
- Make case-related decisions as required within the statutory framework.
- Produce and issue documents for recall requests involving offenders on licence supervision or Home Detention Curfew supervision.
- Review the ongoing detention of recalled offenders.
- Refer cases to the Parole Board in accordance with legal and procedural requirements.
- Work within strict deadlines and complete duties up to 5pm, including a regular late rota until about 7pm every fortnight.

Benefits
The salary for the role is £37,872. In addition, HM Prison and Probation Service contributes £10,971 toward membership of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. The employer contribution to the pension scheme is 28.97%.
