Role overview
Crane Company is hiring a Document Controller to join its Shannon, County Clare, Ireland site. This role focuses on preparing, coordinating, and maintaining project documentation for customer orders while keeping a full record of document changes and supporting Project Engineering, Project Management, and Supply Chain teams.
The company works with intelligent, connected hardware technologies that help industries sense, control, and inspect assets, with the aim of improving operational reliability and efficiency for customers.
Key responsibilities
- Examine document specifications and identify the files that must be included for each order.
- Load templates into document management software and keep version control aligned with defined standards.
- Work with third-party inspectors to resolve complex punch-list questions related to documentation.
- Promote continuous improvement by identifying documentation defects and driving corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the product range to ensure documentation accuracy.
- Question and support practices where better methods are identified or introduced.
- Gather all information needed for project documentation execution, including templates, language requirements, indexes, and hard-copy needs.
- Coordinate translation work and timelines so order schedules are met.
- Communicate regularly with customers and Project Engineers to manage submissions, revisions, returns, and amendments according to agreed timelines.
- Collect and prepare material certifications for certified products based on traceability details supplied by production.
- Assist the Project Manager with documentation questions, supply updates, and document requirements.
- Coordinate with the shipping team to assemble and provide documentation packages.
- Take part in customer-facing and internal project meetings when needed.
Required profile
- Prior experience working in documentation-focused teams.
- Exposure to SAP ERP or a comparable system.
- Background in a manufacturing, project, or fast-paced industrial environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, managers, and varied stakeholder groups.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, critical thinking, problem-solving ability, and personal organization.
- Comfort using MS Word, Adobe Reader/Nitro Pro, and especially Excel.
- Team-oriented attitude with solid communication skills.
