Civil Field Engineer

Role Overview

This position involves managing civil construction activities at a project site in Ahmedabad. The role focuses on supervising execution, maintaining quality and safety standards, coordinating with multiple disciplines, and ensuring that site work progresses according to drawings, specifications, and timelines.

Site Execution and Supervision

• Oversee day-to-day civil construction at site, covering foundations, equipment foundations, approach roads, drainage, control rooms, cable trenches, and related infrastructure.
• Make sure work is carried out in line with approved drawings, technical specifications, and project expectations.
• Track daily site progress to keep quality, safety, and schedule targets on course.

Coordination and Interface

• Work closely with electrical, mechanical, QA/QC, and HSE teams so civil activities fit smoothly into overall project delivery.
• Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to keep assigned work areas moving without delays.
• Explain drawings, work methods, and site instructions clearly to the workforce.

Quality Control and Inspection

• Review civil works such as excavation, concreting, reinforcement, masonry, road construction, and trenching.
• Verify that materials including cement, steel, aggregates, and concrete meet project specifications.
• Support field testing such as soil compaction checks, concrete cube tests, and other material tests.
• Spot quality non-conformities and help implement corrective measures at site.

Safety and Compliance

• Follow and enforce site safety procedures, HSE guidelines, and all applicable statutory requirements.
• Take part in safety inspections, toolbox talks, and audits to support a safe work environment.
• Ensure civil activities align with environmental and regulatory norms.

Progress Monitoring and Reporting

• Measure civil work progress against approved schedules and share daily site updates with senior engineers or project managers.
• Prepare daily progress reports and support weekly and monthly reporting needs.
• Escalate site constraints, delays, and material shortages that may affect execution.

Material and Resource Management

• Support tracking of material receipts, storage practices, and consumption at site.
• Ensure construction materials are handled and stored properly to reduce wastage.
• Assist with quantity measurements and billing-related documentation.

Problem Solving and Site Support

• Tackle routine civil engineering issues directly at site.
• Coordinate with design and planning teams to resolve drawing gaps and site-related constraints.
• Help ensure civil works are completed on time to meet project milestones.

Documentation and Records

• Maintain inspection records, checklists, test reports, and work completion documents.
• Support preparation of as-built drawings and handover files.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering and have 3 to 6 years of experience in civil execution work, preferably in solar, renewable energy, or infrastructure projects. Familiarity with AutoCAD drawings and field execution practices is required.
