Key responsibilities

The Dietician will support inpatient and outpatient care by assessing dietary needs, preparing suitable meal plans, and guiding patients and their families on nutrition-related matters. The role also includes maintaining records, coordinating with the healthcare team, and supporting quality and compliance practices within the department.

In-patient care

  • Conduct daily rounds in the IPD and prepare diet plans for admitted patients.
  • Provide nutrition counselling to both IPD and OPD patients.
  • Check and taste meals prepared for patients to ensure suitability.
  • Oversee tray arrangement and meal service for patients.
  • Meet newly admitted patients and handle their dietary assessment.
  • Follow the IPD workflow process and complete the related records accurately.

Patient care and counselling

  • Prepare meal menus for IPD patients.
  • Create appropriate diet plans based on guidance from the Medical Coordinator.
  • Educate discharged patients and their families on the recommended diet to continue at home.

Process, documentation, and quality

  • Support the functioning and supervision of the Dietetics department.
  • Share ideas and inputs that help improve departmental operations.
  • Contribute to the development of the IPD patient flow process.
  • Create patient education content and materials.
  • Help implement and document NABH policies and related compliance requirements.
  • Give priority to emergency cases and coordinate with consultants and the relevant departments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate departmental records and documentation.
  • Handle all patient, staff, and business-related information with strict confidentiality.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities.
  • Take on additional duties when required by work demands.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
