Utility Engineer

Role Overview

The Utility Engineer will be responsible for ensuring water metering systems operate accurately, reliably, and in line with technical and contractual expectations. This role focuses on the upkeep, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and performance tracking of meters and related equipment, along with supporting improvements in system efficiency and measurement quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the operation, servicing, testing, calibration, replacement, and performance review of all water metering systems to maintain dependable and precise readings.
• Identify and fix technical problems involving water meters, accessories, communication equipment, and connected systems to keep operations running smoothly.
• Track meter installation, replacement, enhancement, commissioning, and maintenance work to confirm alignment with quality standards, schedules, and engineering specifications.
• Examine meter performance information, spot patterns or issues, and prepare technical documentation that includes observations, recommendations, and corrective measures.
• Contribute to ongoing improvement efforts aimed at strengthening metering technology, reading accuracy, equipment reliability, and overall efficiency.
• Create, apply, and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance plans that extend the life and effectiveness of metering assets.
• Carry out technical inspections, on-site evaluations, testing, and verification activities for metering installations to ensure they meet approved requirements and contract terms.
• Offer engineering guidance on metering systems, equipment choices, technology assessment, and established industry practices in support of operational and technical work.
• Handle any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor or management to help meet team and company goals.
