Job description
Job Overview
The Stocker role involves maintaining store shelves and aisles by efficiently stocking merchandise, ensuring cleanliness, and delivering friendly customer support. This position reports to supervisors in the floor department and adheres to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer timely and courteous assistance to customers.
- Unload boxes from pallets, place products onto shelves, and unbox individual items for restocking.
- Rotate stock to avoid expired items on shelves.
- Arrange items neatly and face merchandise towards customers.
- Conduct required inspections conforming to HACCP standards.
- Assist with daily inventory reviews to reduce shrinkage and damage.
- Verify accuracy of shelf pricing to reflect current market conditions.
- Maintain aisle cleanliness following routine cleaning schedules, including lifting pallets to clean underneath.
- Evaluate floor areas for safety risks, promptly manage spills, and remove debris such as plastic wrap or wood scrap safely.
- Notify supervisors about low or out-of-stock products immediately.
- Perform additional duties as assigned and provide support across departments if necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
- Effective communication skills with customers, peers, and management.
- Basic proficiency in reading and math.
- Strong commitment to company values with customer service focus.
Physical Requirements
- Mandatory use of steel-toed boots.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently between 0 and 60 inches height, including overhead.
- Capable of pushing or pulling weights up to 500 pounds horizontally.
- Engagement in continuous lifting/carrying for smaller weights and frequent bending, twisting, standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and squatting.
- Fine motor skills and dynamic balance rated between 80% to 100%.
Work Environment
- Exposure to moderate temperatures with variable conditions near refrigerated/freezer areas and receiving department due to open doors.
- Presence of moving equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, and scooters.
