About the role
KPMG Global Services (KGS) Tax is a multi-city team in India that supports KPMG firms around the world with tax and compliance work. The practice covers Business Tax, Global Mobility, Indirect Tax, Global Transfer Pricing, Global Trade Compliance, and Tax Technology, with professionals who combine technical depth and business understanding to deliver strong client service.
This position is for a Senior Associate in the UK Individual Expatriate Tax team, bringing subject matter knowledge in UK Payroll Services. Experience in setting up, running, and improving payroll tax operations and workflows would be helpful, though it is not mandatory.

Responsibilities
- Support accurate tax credit usage and help reduce the risk of double taxation across different countries.
- Work with a working understanding of UK local, modified, and shadow payrolls, along with the rules that apply to them.
- Assist peer Senior Associates and Assistant Managers on a daily basis with payroll calculations and client service delivery.
- Prepare information requests to obtain missing details from clients.
- Draft client communication materials such as emails, letters, and reports during key stages of the compliance process.
- Take ownership of assigned clients and remain adaptable in work arrangements.
- Handle additional tax compliance tasks as needed while following the firm’s policies and standard compliance practices.
Requirements
- A degree from a well-regarded university with strong academic performance, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in UK modified or local payroll compliance, including preparation and review of payroll instructions and related reports.
- Practical understanding of UK payroll compliance processes.
- Ability to draft accurate client-facing correspondence and supporting documents.
- Comfort working in a team environment and supporting senior colleagues.

This role is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India and is a full-time, on-site position. The role involves work in tax compliance and payroll-related client support within KGS Tax.
