Project Director

Overview

ConsultANZ is hiring a seasoned Project Director for a leading civil contractor in New Zealand. The role centres on steering the tender for a significant civil infrastructure project and guiding major bids from early planning through to contract award. It is well suited to a senior professional who has delivered complex infrastructure work and can lead commercial, technical, and delivery-focused activity at a high level.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the full tender and bid journey for a major infrastructure project.
• Oversee the planning, commercial, and technical elements of the submission.
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate and lead the project team during the tender stage.
• Assess project risks and put forward workable mitigation strategies.
• Remain involved in the project after award to support successful delivery.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 15 years of experience delivering major civil infrastructure projects.
• Prior experience in a Project Director, Senior Project Manager, or comparable leadership role.
• Hands-on involvement in leading large project bids or tender submissions.
• Strong expertise in earthworks, roading, and concrete-based projects.
• Experience on wind farm projects is considered a strong advantage.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and commercial acumen.
