About the Role
This position is for a research-focused physics specialist working with a team that connects high-end technical and creative talent with AI research labs. The work is remote and is structured as a contract engagement.
Compensation and Time Commitment
Pay is set at $80 to $140 per hour. The expected workload is about 10 hours each week.
Core Work
- Take on advanced physics problems from start to finish, providing clear derivations, working code, and references from peer-reviewed sources.
- Break complex assignments into smaller checkpoint tasks that still require real physical reasoning.
- Build Python-based answer templates with auto-checking logic for symbolic or numerical responses.
- Review submitted solutions for accuracy, scope, and methodological quality, then give practical feedback for improvement.
- Compare multiple solution attempts and choose the one that should be treated as the final reference answer.
- Record reasoning structure, acceptable error margins, equivalent symbolic expressions, and test cases used for verification.
Qualifications
- A PhD or postdoctoral background in the relevant physics subfield is required, with at least a senior PhD student profile as the minimum baseline.
- For postdoctoral or junior faculty-level applicants, a PhD in the relevant subfield is the minimum requirement.
- Applicants at the level of full professor or industry research principal investigator should have at least senior postdoc or junior professor standing in the relevant subfield.
- You should be familiar with at least two standard methods used in the target subfield, with that experience supported by publications.
- Provide 3 to 5 representative publications, preferably from the last 5 years, identified by arXiv ID or DOI and relevant to the target subfield.
- Working knowledge of LaTeX, Python, Jupyter, and SymPy is required.
- Strong written English is necessary, with B2, C1, or C2 level ability; native or near-native fluency is preferred.
