Key responsibilities

In the AO6 Communications Advisor role, you will help plan and deliver communication and engagement activities for large infrastructure projects.

You will partner with project teams and senior stakeholders to provide practical communication guidance, identify and manage risks and issues, and keep messaging clear and consistent across different audiences.

The position also involves maintaining relationships across government, industry partners, and community groups, coordinating engagement activities, ensuring communication plans are implemented effectively, and supporting governance processes in line with relevant standards and frameworks.

What you need to bring

To perform well in this role, you should have experience in communications or community engagement within complex project environments.

You will need strong stakeholder engagement abilities, the confidence to build trust across varied groups, and the flexibility to handle competing priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Experience supporting communication strategies, media liaison, and stakeholder engagement work is important, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills for drafting correspondence and briefing documents.

You should also understand governance, compliance, and how to operate within structured frameworks. Experience in infrastructure, transport, or construction projects, or other similarly complex environments, will be valuable.

Tertiary study in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field would be beneficial, and formal engagement or communications certifications are also viewed positively.
