Role overview
RobCo is building a new generation of industrial robotics by combining scalable hardware with a central software platform driven by Physical AI. The company’s goal is to deliver ready-to-use robotic systems that help manufacturers automate more easily, operate efficiently, and scale without unnecessary complexity.
Founded in Munich in 2020 and active across Europe and the US, RobCo develops Autonomous Industrial Robotics through a Robotics-as-a-Service model. Its solutions are designed to support manufacturing tasks such as machine tending, palletizing, dispensing, and welding while reducing the burden of large upfront capital investments.
This opening is for a Junior Mechanical Engineer who will own mechanical development for modular industrial robots from the initial idea all the way through validation. The role focuses on building products that meet high standards for performance, reliability, and manufacturability in a fast-moving scale-up environment.
What you will do
- Take charge of the mechanical design and development of modular robotic parts and assemblies from concept to production-ready status.
- Develop practical designs that strike the right balance between performance, ease of manufacturing, and cost.
- Support and execute prototyping, assembly, and integration work for mechanical systems.
- Plan and run mechanical tests to confirm performance, durability, and safety targets.
- Review test outcomes, trace issues back to their root causes, and refine the design accordingly.
- Work closely with colleagues in Electrical, Software, and Production to ensure the full system works together smoothly.
- Produce clear technical documentation, including design details, specifications, and test reports.
What the role calls for
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Several years of professional mechanical engineering experience, including practical design and testing work, ideally in robotics, automation, or precision engineering.
- Strong CAD capability, with SolidWorks preferred and tools such as Inventor, CATIA, or similar also acceptable.
- A solid history of designing, assembling, and validating complex mechanical systems.
- Good knowledge of mechanical fundamentals, materials science, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing methods.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping and assembly tasks.
- Strong troubleshooting ability for resolving difficult engineering problems.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills for documentation and teamwork across functions.
- Fluency in English; German language skills are an advantage.
Why join RobCo
- Work on modular, software-defined robotics that aim to set new standards in automation.
- Contribute to robots that use advanced AI to understand their surroundings, process data, and make real-time decisions.
- Join a rapidly growing scale-up where you can take responsibility from day one and see the direct effect of your work.
- Benefit from flat structures, open communication, and regular 360° feedback that support fast decisions and growth.
- Use subsidized Wellpass membership access to more than 7,200 gyms and studios across Germany.
- Enjoy flexible working hours, a modern office, and in some roles the option to work from home.
- Take part in regular team activities, from rooftop beer-and-pizza evenings to ski trips and Oktoberfest outings.
