Role overview
This role reports to the Material Handling Supervisor and focuses on general labour support for the plant site, especially the upkeep of outdoor areas and surrounding grounds. The work includes cleanup, lawn care, snow removal, painting, housekeeping, deliveries, and light maintenance. The ideal person brings a strong work ethic, shows initiative, takes pride in quality work, and contributes well within a team environment.
Work schedule and pay
The position follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. The starting pay is $25 per hour.
Key duties
- Carry out a range of physical tasks as assigned.
- Follow all safety rules, procedures, and standards at all times.
- Work in line with Safe Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Learn and complete specialized tasks through on-the-job training.
- Operate mobile equipment safely and efficiently, including a riding mower, forklift, skid steer, and aerial work platform.
- Maintain the plant grounds and perimeter areas through activities such as mowing, snow clearing, and seasonal cleanup.
- Help maintain buildings, equipment, and structures through pressure washing and painting.
- Support maintenance and operations teams with manual work, fire watch, and confined space watch when needed.
- Perform minor maintenance using hand and power tools.
- Drive the plant truck for deliveries and supply runs.
- Handle other labour-related tasks as required.
- Prepare accurate written reports for injuries, fires, or spills.
- Keep personal hygiene, cleanliness, appearance, and company-provided work apparel in good condition.
- Maintain a strong work standard and take pride in the quality of your work.
Skills and experience needed
Applicants should have Grade 12 education, practical mechanical aptitude, solid computer and keyboard skills, and the ability to communicate clearly in both speaking and writing. A positive attitude, self-motivated work style, and consistent attention to quality are important. The role also requires the ability to lift up to 22.7 kg / 50 lbs, work at heights, and operate in confined spaces.
