Role overview
We are hiring an experienced Desktop Engineer / EUC Engineer for a short-term assignment in Croydon, UK. The position is based onsite and is intended for someone who can step in quickly and contribute in a busy IT support setting.
This is a 10-week contract with an immediate start. The ideal candidate will be practical, adaptable, and comfortable handling day-to-day support work in a fast-moving environment.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver second-line support for desktop users in a Windows environment.
- Investigate and fix issues related to Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Support Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 tools, including applications such as Outlook, Teams, and OneDrive.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware problems involving laptops, desktops, and peripherals.
- Perform desktop setup, imaging, build, and deployment tasks.
- Handle onboarding and offboarding activities for joiners, movers, and leavers.
- Record and manage incidents and service requests in a ticketing platform while meeting SLA targets.
- Support device refresh and rollout exercises.
- Work with other IT specialists to escalate and resolve more complex technical issues.
Experience and skills needed
- Background in Desktop Support or End User Computing (EUC).
- Good working knowledge of Windows 10/11.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 products.
- Hands-on use of Active Directory for user administration and group policy management.
- Exposure to imaging and deployment tools such as SCCM, Intune, or MDT.
- Strong troubleshooting ability and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Clear communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
Desirable experience
- Experience delivering Intune or Autopilot deployments.
- Understanding of basic networking concepts such as VPN, Wi-Fi, and connectivity troubleshooting.
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced or project-led environment.
