Data Analyst

Role overview

This Melbourne-based opportunity is for a Data Analyst who will collaborate with internal teams to understand existing data, support preparation work, and reshape information into a required target format. The position combines practical data handling with communication across stakeholders, problem-solving, and improving data handling processes over time.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out data migration tasks by collecting, checking, cleaning, and converting information so it can be loaded correctly into the new system.
• Work with branch teams to understand how their local data is structured, spot any gaps or mismatches, and help them prepare their data properly.
• Create and update data mapping files, transformation logic, and quality guidelines to keep the migration process controlled and consistent.
• Analyse datasets in detail, extract the needed information, transform it into the required format, and clean records so they meet target application standards.
• Collect details from the relevant mapping documents so that multiple sectors can be set up accurately.
• Coordinate with IT, project personnel, and business stakeholders to resolve data-related issues and keep work aligned with project deadlines.

Desirable skills and experience

• Hands-on experience with data analysis, data cleansing, and data migration work.
• Ability to use tools that support data extraction, transformation, cleansing, and loading.
• Working knowledge of relational databases and core data modelling concepts.
• Experience with geospatial shape creation and editing.
• Good understanding of data quality controls, validation approaches, and reconciliation methods.
• Exposure to helping end users or branch teams through data-related change initiatives.
• Familiarity with project delivery methods such as Agile or Waterfall, and experience contributing within project teams.
