Data Analyst

About the Role

RigUp is focused on connecting skilled workers with major projects and tools that help businesses and field teams work more efficiently. This opening is for a motivated, detail-focused analyst who will support land, regulatory, and engineering workflows. It is well suited to someone early in their career or a recent graduate who wants broad exposure to the oil and gas sector and enjoys learning in a team-based office setting.

The position involves hands-on work across land administration, compliance support, data review, and engineering-related coordination. The role is office-based for at least three days each week and requires regular collaboration with colleagues across several functions.

Responsibilities

• Help gather, organize, and keep current records tied to land, regulatory, and operational work.
• Support the creation and filing of regulatory documents, reports, and related paperwork.
• Examine data connected to leases, permits, wells, production, and other operating activities.
• Keep databases, spreadsheets, and tracking tools accurate and complete.
• Assist with researching regulatory obligations and watching compliance deadlines.
• Support land administration tasks such as document review, ownership tracking, and record control.
• Prepare summaries, reports, and presentation materials for internal teams.
• Work with land, regulatory, engineering, and operations staff to collect and verify information.
• Contribute to engineering data handling, analysis, and project support when needed.
• Look for ways to strengthen processes, improve data quality, and make reporting more efficient.
• Carry out additional analytical and administrative tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Energy Management, Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business, GIS, or a related discipline.
• Strong ability to analyze information, stay organized, and solve problems.
• Careful attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Comfort using Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
• Willingness to learn land, regulatory, and engineering processes.
• Availability to work from the office at least three days per week.
• Preferred: internship, coursework, or academic project experience in oil and gas, energy, or natural resources.
• Preferred: exposure to land administration, regulatory compliance, GIS, engineering, or data analysis.
• Preferred: familiarity with industry terminology, permitting workflows, or production operations.
• Preferred: experience using databases, reporting platforms, or data management systems.
• Preferred: engineering coursework or practical engineering exposure.
• Key traits: curious, self-driven, dependable, collaborative, and interested in building a long-term career in energy.

Compensation

The role pays $26 to $36 per hour.
