Role Overview
The Cost Accountant will act as a finance partner to plant leadership, owning the full spectrum of cost management, advanced modelling, and margin enhancement work. This position calls for strong capability in cost control, financial planning, and performance analysis in a manufacturing setup. The selected professional should bring substantial industry exposure and contribute directly to improving cost efficiency and the plant’s financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Take charge of the plant’s cost accounting operations and build dependable systems for cost control.
- Create and maintain product costing structures, activity-based costing frameworks, and analysis of profitability by process.
- Track cost movements, production effectiveness, and inventory consumption to support management decisions.
- Compare standard and actual costs, investigate deviations, identify root causes, and implement corrective measures.
- Perform plant-level cost reviews and work closely with production, procurement, and supply chain teams to keep financials aligned.
- Lead efforts to reduce waste, improve processes, and optimize costs across both operational and strategic levels.
- Manage inventory valuation, stock verification, and reconciliation for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Partner with the Finance Head and Plant Director on capex planning and cost-versus-benefit assessments.
- Maintain adherence to Cost Accounting Standards, internal control frameworks, and statutory reporting obligations.
- Prepare MIS packs, dashboards, and executive-level summaries for senior leadership and board reviews.
Qualifications
- Must be a qualified CMA; an additional MBA in Finance or CA Inter will be considered a plus.
- Should have 8–10 years of progressive experience in cost accounting, including at least 3 years in a senior position within a manufacturing plant.
- Demonstrated success in implementing cost-saving measures and strengthening profitability is required.
- Hands-on experience with ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle, along with advanced Excel and Power BI skills, is needed.
- Strong knowledge of cost structures, manufacturing workflows, and inventory control in industrial environments is essential.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration abilities are expected.
