Section Head - Planning Analyst

Role Overview

This role sits within the central Mumbai setup of the Chemical Business and supports strategic business decisions across the organization. The position is based in Prabhadevi, Mumbai, and is focused on planning, analysis, project evaluation, compliance tracking, and business performance reporting.

Core Purpose

The selected professional will be responsible for preparing quarterly materials for the Business Review Council, reviewing Greenfield and Brownfield project proposals, assessing capex requests, supporting audit and compliance requirements, and driving monthly financial, CMIS, and capex reviews. The role also involves building meaningful reports in coordination with domestic chemical units to support comparative analysis, operational synergy, and better receivables management in a large customer-focused business environment.

Key Responsibilities

The position covers a broad mix of planning, analytics, digitization, strategy, and program management work. It includes daily tracking of sales and plant performance, identifying gaps in existing systems, and recommending improvements to business planning and execution processes.

The role is expected to help ensure strong plant availability, better inventory utilization, improved product mix decisions, and reduced working capital through analytical support and contribution margin insights. It also requires support for scenario modeling, experimentation, and centralized digital initiatives involving manufacturing, logistics, and operational cockpit systems.

In addition, the role contributes to business growth strategy, new product development, channel partner engagement programs, performance excellence dashboards, and competitive engagement initiatives. The position will involve coordination with internal teams, external vendors, group IT resources, and DNA teams to keep projects moving and ensure milestone completion.

Selection Preference

A Chartered Accountant qualification is required. Candidates who have cleared every level of the CA examination on their first attempt will be preferred. Applicants with an All India Rank below 50 will receive additional preference.

Programs and Initiatives

The role includes ownership and redesign of the Lakshya channel partner engagement program, including program structure, scoring, entry criteria, rewards, and club criteria. It also involves improving adoption of the portal and app, updating marketing content with zonal teams, and training zone and vertical leaders. Another part of the job is automation and reworking of the Performance Excellence League, including KPI alignment and training for sales, manufacturing, and other teams. The role may also support competition-style initiatives such as setting weekly targets, gathering performance data, and preparing winner templates based on actual results.

Project and Strategy Work

Responsibilities include evaluating new product opportunities, collecting and analyzing market and pricing data, reviewing raw material availability and technology options, and building financial models to test project returns such as IRR and payback period. The role also supports proposal preparation, internal reviews, and approval meetings for strategic business initiatives.

Compliance and Review Areas

The position requires support for Audit Committee, SOP, and ICQ compliance activities, along with monthly reviews for financials, CMIS, and capex. It may also involve reviews related to digital upgrades such as IMM 2.0 and improvement of central manufacturing cockpit, tonner management, and logistics cockpit processes.
