Role Overview
This position is with Reliance Industries Limited in Jamnagar, Gujarat. The role focuses on maintaining the health, reliability, and compliance of refractory linings across plant equipment, with strong attention to inspection quality, safety, shutdown execution, and technical documentation.
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct routine reliability surveys to track the condition and performance of refractory linings.
- Inspect refractory systems during shutdown periods and document findings along with corrective recommendations.
- Oversee day-to-day refractory-related work and make sure all tasks follow approved standards, technical specifications, and procedures.
- Keep a close watch on quality control checkpoints and safety requirements while also ensuring work is completed on time.
- Compile MIS reports summarizing refractory activities and progress.
- Track contractor performance, evaluate manpower and material needs, and recommend improvements where required.
- Support turnaround management activities.
- Develop and publish technical procedures for refractory inspection and maintenance, including SMPs and SIPs.
- Assess vendor technical submissions for refractory material supply and maintain historical records and databases.
- Ensure alignment with MIQA requirements.
- Verify compliance with heat-up and dry-out schedules for equipment.
- Coordinate with external agencies during shutdown execution.
- Assess resource requirements and work with the contract team and contractors for timely mobilization.
- Perform visual checks of refractory materials when they are received at stores.
- Contribute to reliability studies as needed.
- Maintain accurate SAP-PM entries to support compliance and record integrity.
- Ensure work execution remains aligned with the approved schedule.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering or Civil Engineering is required.
Experience
Applicants should have around 1 to 6 years of experience in a chemical, petrochemical, or refinery environment, with practical exposure to maintenance, reliability analysis, and root cause analysis using standard applications.
Additional Information
This role requires hands-on involvement in reliability monitoring, shutdown support, contractor coordination, technical review, and compliance-driven maintenance work. The job is based onsite in Jamnagar.
