Vulnerability Analyst

Role overview

This position offers the chance to help shape a vulnerability management capability from the ground up. Tabcorp is creating this function to strengthen cyber risk reduction across its technology environment, and two Vulnerability Analysts are being hired to form the core of the team. The role is designed for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact by finding risk, guiding remediation, and improving how critical systems are protected.

How you will contribute

You will report into the Security Operations leadership team and work closely with engineers, risk specialists, and other stakeholders. The role spans the identification, assessment, prioritisation, and remediation of vulnerabilities across infrastructure, applications, and cloud environments. There are opportunities across two capability levels, allowing the role to suit someone ready to take ownership as well as someone building depth in vulnerability management.

Key duties

• Detect and evaluate vulnerabilities across infrastructure, applications, and cloud platforms.
• Review risk, potential exploitability, and business impact to determine remediation priority.
• Work with engineers and stakeholders to ensure vulnerabilities are addressed in a timely way.
• Trace incidents back to their underlying causes by investigating issues from the end result backwards.
• Run and improve vulnerability management tools and security platforms.
• Help strengthen processes, reporting, and automation within the function.

What you need to bring

The ideal candidate combines solid technical knowledge with curiosity and a practical problem-solving approach. You should be comfortable digging into issues, understanding how systems behave, and using that understanding to improve outcomes rather than simply reacting to problems.

• Background in vulnerability management or security operations, or at least exposure to these environments.
• Good working knowledge of operating systems, networking, and cloud security basics.
• Practical familiarity with tools such as CrowdStrike, Palo Alto, or comparable security platforms.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems, investigate issues, and work backward to identify root causes.
• Understanding of security processes and frameworks, including why they are used.
• Interest in automation and improving efficiency through scripting or related tooling.
