CAD Designer

Role overview

The CAD Designer/Technician is responsible for producing accurate digital models and technical drawings for civil and related industries using specialized design software. The role supports the design process by turning concepts into practical, buildable drawings and by preparing complete construction drawing sets for authority approvals and tender submissions in line with civil and structural standards and established best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Create precise technical drawings such as plans, elevations, sections, and schedules using tools like AutoCAD and Revit, based on concepts and specifications.
• Develop fresh drawings or update existing ones by incorporating feedback from clients and other professionals while maintaining accuracy, usability, and compliance with civil and structural standards.
• Use 3D modelling and simulation tools to build more realistic and accurate design representations.
• Check drawings carefully before submission to ensure quality control and compliance with industry requirements.
• Partner with civil and structural engineers to understand project requirements and make suitable adjustments that reduce errors and support compliance with standards, regulations, and project guidelines.
• Coordinate with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and other interface engineers to gather the information needed for preparing technical drawings.
• Maintain organised project records, including approved drawings with revisions, meeting notes, and correspondence, in accordance with Indian and ISO standards.
• Follow company procedures and standards for managing electronic and hard-copy drawing files.
• Work with site teams to confirm that designs are practical and constructible, and revise drawings where needed.
• Incorporate site feedback and update CAD drawings as required.
• Keep developing professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, and other learning opportunities.
• Stay current on civil and structural codes, industry standards, and modern construction methods and practices.
• Build awareness of automation approaches for drawing and BBS preparation using BIM, AI, and other advanced technologies.
• Engage in project review discussions to understand progress and improve deliverables.
• Help resolve site-related issues such as utility or road infringements by working with the design coordinator and considering project constraints.

Knowledge and experience

Applicants should have a Diploma in Civil Engineering or ITI qualification. The role requires strong written and spoken English as well as knowledge of a regional language. A minimum of 5 years of drafting experience is required, preferably with exposure to metro or bridge projects.

Technical and behavioural skills

The position calls for strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Revit, along with familiarity with shape code procedures and standard practices. The role also demands good communication, teamwork, attention to detail, visual interpretation ability, and adaptability when project requirements change.

Internal and external coordination

This role works closely with civil and structural engineers, as well as architects and other engineering professionals, to translate design ideas into detailed drawings that can be clearly understood at site level. Externally, the CAD Designer collaborates with the site design coordinator and the client to address site constraints and strengthen project outputs.

Additional information

This is a full-time on-site position in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The job involves working across civil and structural standards and supporting construction documentation, coordination, and design refinement throughout the project lifecycle.
