Description de l'emploi
About the Council
Bundaberg Regional Council was formed in 2008 after the merger of four former councils and now supports a varied community of more than 94,000 people. The region sits at the southern edge of the Great Barrier Reef and is known for its warm climate, affordable lifestyle, quality amenities, and laid-back way of life. It offers convenient access to beaches, fishing, boating, coastal towns, and productive agricultural areas, while places such as Childers and Gin Gin add further options for living, business, and leisure. The area continues to grow as an attractive place for residents, visitors, and investors.
Role Summary
The Manager Technical Services is a full-time, on-site position in Bundaberg, Queensland. In this role, you will lead the Council’s technical services and support functions, making sure internal teams and external customers receive dependable, timely assistance. You will oversee troubleshooting, manage technical staff, set service expectations, and improve the reliability and performance of systems and infrastructure. The role also involves training delivery, cross-department collaboration on technical projects, and contributing to planning, risk, and continuous improvement activities that support Council goals.
Key Duties
Each day, the role includes supervising technical personnel, handling and prioritizing service requests, and ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and professionally. You will also develop and provide training on systems, tools, and procedures, coordinate with other departments on technical initiatives, and help shape service processes that lift customer experience. In addition, you will support strategic planning, risk awareness, and ongoing operational improvements.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should bring strong technical services and support capability, including experience managing complex systems and infrastructure. Practical knowledge of troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and applying durable fixes is important, as is the ability to deliver strong customer service and communicate clearly with stakeholders. You should also have leadership experience in supervising, mentoring, and managing performance within a team. A tertiary qualification in information technology, engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred, although equivalent experience will also be considered. Experience in local government or another large, multi-site organisation would be an advantage.
Additional Capabilities
This position calls for strong planning, organisation, and project coordination skills, along with the ability to balance multiple priorities. Familiarity with risk management, compliance, and recognised best-practice standards in a technical services environment is also expected. Success in the role will rely on the ability to work cooperatively across departments and contribute to both operational and strategic improvements.
