Role overview
PM Group is looking for an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer in Building Services who is ready to take on a senior technical leadership position in Cork. The successful candidate will act as the technical lead for the Building Services engineering design team and help ensure project objectives are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This opportunity is well suited to a Senior Mechanical Engineer who has already led substantial projects through the full lifecycle, including projects with a total installed cost above €200 million.
What you will do
- Create practical and forward-thinking design solutions for new assignments.
- Work closely with client-side design teams and end users to align on project needs.
- Lead technical assessments and safety-focused reviews.
- Drive Building Services design work, including preparation of AFDs, P&IDs, and equipment sizing calculations.
- Guide and coordinate team members through all phases of project execution.
- Monitor HVAC BIM modelling progress and ensure delivery against plan.
- Plan staffing needs, track resource use, and report progress against committed deliverables.
- Estimate the resources required across the project lifecycle.
- Deliver the agreed design scope within allocated hours and schedule targets.
What you need
The role requires a Level 8 degree in Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. You should bring substantial design experience in the pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, or chemical sectors. Experience leading teams and coaching colleagues into future leadership roles is important. A strong technical background in utilities such as steam, LPHW, and CHW is also essential, along with the ability to guide and support teams effectively.
