Overview
This opportunity is for a General Manager at a luxury boutique safari property in Matabeleland North Province, Zimbabwe, based at Anantara Stanley & Livingstone Victoria Falls Hotel. The property sits inside a private game reserve near Victoria Falls and combines high-end hospitality, safari experiences, conservation, and authentic African guest service.

Role Summary
The General Manager will hold overall accountability for the strategic direction, financial performance, and daily running of the hotel and related hospitality operations within the reserve. The role involves close coordination with ownership and the regional office to ensure the property consistently delivers premium service, strong sustainability practices, conservation support, and excellent commercial outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all hotel and lodge functions with clear direction and visible, inspirational leadership.
- Ensure every guest receives a distinctive luxury experience that aligns with the brand promise and exceeds expectations.
- Oversee day-to-day operations across accommodation, food and beverage, front office, housekeeping, maintenance, security, guest activities, and reserve operations.
- Maintain premium standards in presentation, service quality, safety, and overall guest satisfaction.
- Improve commercial performance through revenue management, sales efforts, cost discipline, and careful asset oversight.
- Prepare and execute annual operating plans, budgets, and strategic priorities while meeting financial goals.
- Coach, develop, and support the leadership team to build a culture of ownership, teamwork, and ongoing improvement.
- Partner with Sales and Marketing to grow market share and improve occupancy, ADR, and profitability.
- Build productive relationships with owners, travel partners, tour operators, DMCs, local communities, conservation stakeholders, and government bodies.
- Promote sustainability, responsible tourism, and conservation initiatives that support both the guest experience and long-term reserve preservation.
- Ensure full compliance with legal, health and safety, environmental, and brand requirements.
- Represent the property and brand confidently within the local community and the international luxury travel market.
Candidate Profile
The ideal person is an approachable, hands-on, highly visible leader who is genuinely passionate about luxury hospitality, wildlife tourism, and team development. The role calls for someone who can balance strategic leadership with active operational involvement.
Requirements
- A degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Business Management, or a closely related field.
- At least 8 to 10 years of senior leadership experience in luxury hotels, safari lodges, or boutique resorts.
- Prior experience as a General Manager, Hotel Manager, or Lodge Manager.
- A proven track record of managing boutique luxury properties with a strong focus on personalised guest service.
- Experience in private game reserve or safari lodge environments, including lodge operations and guest activity coordination.
- Strong commercial and financial capability, with the ability to deliver on revenue, profitability, and operational targets.
- Excellent leadership, coaching, and people-development skills with experience building high-performing teams.
- Strong guest engagement, communication, and relationship-building abilities.
- Experience with an international luxury hospitality brand will be an added advantage.
- Good understanding of revenue management, luxury sales, and distribution channels.
- The ability to combine strategic thinking with a practical, hands-on leadership approach.
- Strong commitment to conservation, sustainable tourism, and community involvement.
