Role overview
A growing business in Waterford is hiring a commercially minded Financial Controller to take charge of the finance function and help support the company’s next stage of expansion. Reporting into and working alongside senior leaders, this role covers financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow oversight, and the maintenance of strong financial controls across the organisation.
This position suits a qualified finance professional who wants ownership of a wide-ranging finance portfolio within a fast-moving, ambitious environment.
Key responsibilities
- Direct the finance function on a day-to-day basis and ensure smooth operations.
- Compile monthly management accounts and provide meaningful analysis to support decisions.
- Produce accurate financial reports for senior management within required timelines.
- Own the annual budget cycle and quarterly forecasting activities.
- Track and improve cash flow, working capital, and treasury-related matters.
- Keep the business aligned with statutory, regulatory, and tax obligations.
- Lead the annual audit from planning through completion.
- Strengthen internal controls and maintain solid financial governance practices.
- Work with operational and commercial teams to inform strategic choices.
- Lead ongoing improvements in finance processes and systems.
- Supervise and develop the finance team and support career growth.
- Manage payroll, VAT, corporation tax, and other compliance responsibilities.
- Contribute to business planning, investment evaluation, and growth initiatives.
Candidate requirements
- Fully qualified accountant status such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or an equivalent credential.
- At least 5 years of post-qualification experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or senior finance position.
- Strong grounding in technical accounting and financial reporting.
- Practical experience with audits and statutory compliance.
- Well-developed budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning skills.
- Hands-on experience with ERP or accounting systems.
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling.
- Ability to work closely with senior stakeholders and shape decisions.
- Effective leadership, communication, and people management capabilities.
- Strong organisational habits with close attention to detail.
Desirable experience
- Exposure to ERP rollouts and finance transformation projects.
- Background in driving process improvement initiatives.
- Working knowledge of IFRS reporting standards.
