Software Engineer

The company is expanding and is looking for a Software Engineer who is eager to learn, contribute, and help develop new solutions.

Role Summary

This position is centered on automating document entry, bookkeeping, and accounting workflows. You will help improve existing product features, build new capabilities, and work with the technical team to design and implement solutions such as tighter integrations with MYOB and AUTOCOUNT. The role also involves connecting the platform with several accounting SaaS tools including Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, Autcount, Sage, and similar systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Review document outputs generated from internal, trial, or external sources and assess their quality.
• Adjust language model prompts and parameters so outputs better match the required document type or business context.
• Work with colleagues across functions to collect feedback and improve results over time.
• Support the technical team in coming up with ideas that improve internal processes and the user experience.
• Help design and build a queue-driven task management system to make workflows more efficient.
• Integrate cloud storage tools to support smooth document handling and user actions.
• Partner with the CTO to create and test prompt-based automation for document entry, bookkeeping, and accounting.
• Connect and synchronize data with accounting SaaS platforms such as Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, Autocount, and others.
• Maintain accuracy, security, and compliance when automating financial workflows.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of professional experience involving API-based integration with external systems.
• Interest in accounting systems and the financial domain, with preferred familiarity with double-entry accounting principles.
• Working knowledge of server infrastructure, including physical server setup and software architecture.
• Understanding of backend components such as servers, databases, and network configuration.
• Strong ability to program in interpreted languages such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Comfort working in cross-functional teams and contributing collaboratively.
• Clear communication skills for explaining technical topics and coordinating with others.
• Self-driven, flexible, and able to learn quickly in a changing technology environment.
