Senior Java Developer - Blockchain

Role overview

An opportunity is available for a seasoned Java engineer to join a fast-growing team in Dublin city centre. The role focuses on building backend solutions that connect enterprise Java systems with blockchain and distributed ledger technologies.

What you'll do

• Architect and deliver scalable backend services with Java and microservices patterns.
• Create and connect blockchain-aware components, including distributed ledger interactions and transaction flows.
• Develop secure REST APIs to support integrations between systems.
• Maintain strong security, consistency, and data integrity across on-chain and off-chain environments.
• Support architecture decisions, improve performance, and strengthen reliability in distributed systems.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams in an Agile delivery setup.
• Offer technical direction, review code, and mentor other engineers.

Technical background

• Hands-on backend development in Java 8 or later.
• Practical experience with Spring Boot, microservices, and REST API design.
• Familiarity with blockchain fundamentals such as distributed ledgers, consensus models, and transaction processing.
• Awareness of secure development principles, basic cryptography, and application security.
• Experience working with relational or NoSQL databases and distributed systems.

Nice-to-have experience

• Exposure to smart contracts or blockchain SDKs/frameworks.
• Previous work integrating backend platforms with blockchain ecosystems.
• Experience in cloud-native environments, containerization, and orchestration tools.
• Comfort with CI/CD, DevOps workflows, and automated testing.
• Knowledge of event-driven design or messaging platforms.
• Background in high-security or large-scale enterprise systems.
• Experience in technical leadership or solution design.
