Senior Electrical Engineer

Overview

PM Group is an international project delivery organization working across Europe, the United States, and Asia. The company supports leading multinational clients with project management, process design, facility design, construction management, and commissioning and qualification services.

The team is currently seeking several Electrical Engineers to join the office-based group in Cork. The position includes flexible working arrangements.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of electrical aspects across multiple projects while contributing as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Tackle complex engineering challenges and develop practical, effective solutions.
• Support preparation of fee proposals and capital budget proposals when needed.
• Build and manage electrical packages for bid, approval, and construction stages in an efficient and streamlined way.
• Oversee junior electrical staff when required.
• Review the work of other electrical engineers to ensure accuracy and quality, including peer reviews.
• Work directly and independently with clients, vendor representatives, and project site personnel.
• Participate in meetings with clients and PM Group teams.
• Carry out and take part in site visits to observe, review, and approve electrical installations.

Requirements

• A third-level degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• More than 10 years of formal experience in heavy industrial engineering design.
• Chartered status, or actively working toward it.
• Proven senior-level experience across the full range of electrical design services, including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, generators, UPS systems, lighting and emergency lighting, vertical transportation, small power, voice/data, cable containment, fire alarm, security, lightning protection, earthing and bonding, hazardous areas, and specialist control systems.
• Strong understanding of relevant electrical codes, standards, and accepted industry practice.
• Commercial awareness, with the ability to carry out value engineering and introduce new technologies to deliver cost-effective solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce specifications and contract documents.
• Solid working knowledge of short-circuit calculations, load flow studies, and discrimination studies using modelling tools such as Amtech or SKM.
• A professional manner and a strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental protection, and responsible business practices.
