Role overview

Warrington Youth Zone is seeking a SEND Manager to create and run an engaging, inclusive activity programme for children and young people aged 7 to 25 with additional needs. The postholder will build a strong, accessible offer that enables every young person to take part in activities that suit their interests and support needs.

Leadership and team support

You will supervise and guide support workers, youth workers and volunteers, giving clear direction, coaching and day-to-day support so provision is delivered to a high standard. The role includes helping staff safely support young people with more complex needs, including personal care and medication support.

Programme delivery

You will take responsibility for the Youth Zone’s Springboard sessions, delivered on Sunday mornings for junior and senior members, making sure they are thoughtfully planned, inclusive and responsive to different needs. You will also coordinate weekly 1:2:1 support sessions, including one junior and one senior session, ensuring the right staffing, preparation and delivery to meet individual support requirements.

The role also involves managing the Aspire programme, a specialist holiday club offer for young people with SEND delivered in partnership with Warrington Borough Council. This includes planning and running activity across the Youth Zone and satellite locations while meeting regulatory standards and recognised best practice.

Inclusive practice and environment

You will ensure the effective use of facilities and resources to maintain a safe, supportive and engaging setting that helps young people build confidence, independence and the ability to join in meaningfully. A key part of the role is promoting consistent inclusive practice across the Youth Zone and wider team, along with driving high standards and ongoing improvement in SEND provision.

Additional responsibilities

From time to time, you will also support and help lead annual events, working with colleagues to deliver successful activities that strengthen the profile of Warrington Youth Zone and support its wider aims.

Application and safeguarding

Applications should be submitted using the application form and sent to recruitment@wyz.org.uk. Candidates are encouraged to share any reasonable adjustments needed for the application or selection process. This role requires an Enhanced DBS check in line with child protection and safeguarding procedures.

Data handling information is available in the organisation’s privacy policy. The closing date for applications is 12:00 p.m. on Friday 26 June 2026, and interviews are scheduled for the week commencing 29 June 2026.
