RTOS/Bare-Metal Embedded Software Developer

About the role

Capgemini is hiring an RTOS/Bare-Metal Embedded Software Developer in Bengaluru for a 2 to 4 year role focused on firmware development for constrained embedded platforms. The position calls for strong hands-on experience in Embedded C, microcontroller-based software, real-time operating systems, device drivers, and close-to-hardware programming.

What you will do

• Create and maintain embedded firmware in C for microcontroller-driven systems.
• Build software for both RTOS-based and bare-metal environments.
• Develop device drivers and board support package components.
• Design real-time software that meets strict timing constraints.
• Work with interfaces and peripherals such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Ethernet, ADC, PWM, GPIO, and timers.
• Troubleshoot integration issues between hardware and software.
• Measure and improve CPU, memory, and power usage for better system efficiency.
• Carry out unit, integration, and system-level testing.
• Review code and follow established coding practices.
• Partner with hardware, validation, and systems engineering teams.

Desired skills and experience

The ideal candidate should be comfortable developing for embedded targets, debugging low-level systems, and optimizing performance in real-time environments. Experience with ARM Cortex-M/A/R processors is preferred, along with exposure to platforms such as STM32, NXP, TI, Renesas, Infineon, Nordic, or Microchip. Familiarity with functional safety standards like ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or DO-178C is an added advantage, as is experience with secure boot, firmware security, and Embedded Linux. Exposure to AUTOSAR, industrial automation, IoT, medical devices, or consumer electronics would also be beneficial.
