Java Software Engineer (Lending)

Job overview

This role is for a Java Software Engineer focused on lending technology. You will be based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and work onsite in a full-time capacity within the FinTech and digital lending space.

What you will do

• Develop and enhance backend platforms for lending operations, covering loan origination, repayment processing, and risk-related workflows.
• Create scalable B2B solutions that serve partners, merchants, and financial institutions.
• Deliver essential lending components, including credit evaluation features, KYC/KYB integrations, and repayment scheduling logic.
• Build and maintain APIs and system connections with outside financial services such as banks and payment gateways.
• Support strong system uptime, dependable data handling, and overall platform reliability.
• Contribute to architecture planning and efforts to modernize core systems.
• Collaborate with teams working in risk, product, and compliance to align the platform with business and regulatory needs.
• Help ensure the platform meets financial compliance obligations and audit expectations.

Required background

• You should have 5–10+ years of experience in Java backend engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot and/or Spring Cloud is needed.
• Prior work in fintech, lending, banking, or other financial systems is expected.
• A solid grasp of microservices architecture and distributed systems is important.
• You should be comfortable working with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with messaging platforms like Kafka or RabbitMQ is required.
• Understanding of lending and financial processes, including underwriting, loan lifecycle management, and repayment, is necessary.
