What you’ll be working on
- Tackle complex business challenges by applying modern machine learning approaches and analytical methods.
- Create data-led models and tools that improve trading outcomes across areas such as pricing and recommended sort.
- Use exploratory analysis to uncover practical insights, spot opportunities, and deepen understanding of customer behaviour.
Key responsibilities
- Build advanced data science solutions from end to end.
- Identify the data needed for each solution and extract it to support development.
- Carry out exploratory data analysis to understand trends and behaviours and to guide feature engineering and modelling decisions.
- Help design and build scalable, efficient, data-driven solutions.
- Contribute to choosing the right data science methods and technologies for each problem.
- Protect the quality and integrity of solutions by checking the statistical and economic assumptions behind them.
- Work closely with the MLOps team to deploy solutions into production and monitor their impact in real time.
- Design statistically sound test plans to measure whether solutions are effective.
- Gather and assess the results of in-market testing.
- Explain findings clearly to both technical colleagues and business stakeholders.
- Support the Revenue team with tools, models, and resources that help improve trading performance.
- Assist the wider business with day-to-day data science tasks and with creating new solutions to solve complex issues.
- Partner with broader data and technology teams to improve data capture and refine existing data sources.
Requirements
- Degree at undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral level in a relevant quantitative subject, plus at least 3 years of experience in a related role.
- Strong understanding of statistical modelling, algorithms, data mining, and machine learning workflows.
- Some exposure to advanced machine learning libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or MXnet.
- Experience with GenAI methods is considered an advantage.
- Strong Python programming skills with clean, robust, and well-structured code.
- Good SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
- Ability to explain complex quantitative analysis in a clear and actionable way.
- Experience working with large, high-dimensional, and varied datasets.
- Ability to build clear visualisations and dashboards using tools such as Tableau or Thoughtspot.
- Familiarity with Git and modern software development workflows.
- Strong creative and analytical problem-solving skills in a fast-moving environment.
- Ability to collaborate with Software Engineering teams to build business functionality.
