About the Role
We are hiring a senior multidisciplinary designer to support a global beauty brand with work spanning packaging, brand graphics, and e-commerce creative. This position is well-suited to someone with deep experience in beauty, cosmetics, skincare, haircare, fragrance, personal care, or related consumer products, and who can help shape both the physical product experience and the digital shopping journey.
The role blends structural packaging design with packaging visuals and digital content development. You will create primary packaging concepts, refine packaging components, and also build online assets that support product launches, merchandising, retail, social, and campaign needs.
This opportunity calls for a designer with a polished portfolio showing both tangible product design and digital brand execution in the beauty space. A strong understanding of how beauty consumers discover, compare, and buy products on shelf and online is important, along with the ability to create work that feels desirable, premium, and commercially effective.
You should be comfortable designing bottles, caps, closures, compacts, brushes, applicators, and similar components from the ground up, while also producing product detail pages, ecommerce visuals, banners, promotional graphics, email assets, landing pages, and social content.
The position is based in New York, NY and is a hybrid role. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be needed during major projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop and sketch primary packaging and component concepts from the ground up, including bottles, caps, closures, compacts, applicators, and other structural ideas.
- Convert design direction into production-ready artwork, technical files, specifications, dielines, and supporting documentation.
- Investigate materials, finishes, coatings, decoration methods, and manufacturing options to support the design vision.
- Work with product development, engineering, and suppliers to confirm technical viability, cost considerations, and execution quality.
- Review prototypes, refine details, and support packaging through the full production process.
- Stay informed about packaging trends, sustainability, material innovation, and developments in the beauty market.
- Create packaging graphics that reflect brand strategy and meet consumer expectations.
- Build original visual systems that extend across packaging, print, and marketing materials.
- Maintain consistency across physical and digital brand touchpoints.
- Support campaign creative, photoshoots, and brand storytelling as needed.
- Produce digital assets for product launches and ongoing marketing programs.
- Design ecommerce materials such as product detail pages, retail.com assets, merchandising visuals, promotional graphics, email assets, banners, landing pages, and online campaign creative.
- Create social media assets and digital content aligned with seasonal campaigns and launches.
- Partner with marketing and creative teams to improve digital asset performance while protecting brand consistency.
- Translate packaging ideas into engaging digital experiences across multiple channels.
- Collaborate closely with product development, marketing, creative, merchandising, and outside vendors throughout the process.
- Present concepts, mood boards, prototypes, and design reasoning clearly and confidently.
- Help maintain a collaborative, detail-oriented, and taste-led creative culture.
- Handle several projects at once while keeping standards high and meeting deadlines.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of professional design experience in beauty, cosmetics, skincare, haircare, fragrance, personal care, or consumer packaged goods.
- Proven ability to design primary packaging from concept through production, including structural and component design.
- A strong portfolio showing packaging structure, packaging graphics, branding, and ecommerce or digital creative.
- Hands-on experience creating product detail pages, retail.com assets, digital merchandising, email marketing, social media, and online campaign assets.
- Strong awareness of beauty trends, color, typography, materials, finishes, and consumer behavior.
- Knowledge of packaging production methods, print workflows, decoration techniques, and supplier coordination.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
- Experience with Figma and 3D rendering tools is an advantage.
- Strong sketching, concepting, presentation, and visual storytelling skills.
- Excellent organization and the ability to manage several priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with internal teams and external partners.
- Genuine interest in beauty, innovation, and creating strong consumer experiences across physical and digital channels.
