Role overview
HMP Erlestoke is hiring an Operational Support Grade (Prison Support) to help keep the prison running safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on role within a supportive team, covering a mix of security, visitor management, and operational support tasks.
The position includes both desk-based duties and physically active work, such as lifting, carrying, and walking to escort vehicles across the prison site. It is a varied role in a busy environment where reliability and calm decision-making matter.
What the role involves
- Carrying out security checks and searches at the gate.
- Handling deliveries and supporting the movement of items into and out of the prison.
- Supervising visitors and helping manage site access.
- Monitoring phone calls and CCTV as part of day-to-day security support.
- Completing a combination of administrative and physical tasks across the prison grounds.
